Flying is the most practical means of transport. A ferry system does exist. There are regular flights from Lisbon, with departures from other European cities being less frequent. The archipelago has four international airports, located on the islands of Sal, Santiago, Boa Vista, and São Vicente. Only Brava and Santo Antão are accessible by ferry.

TACV (Cabo Verde Airlines; www.flytacv.com) operates 3 to 4 weekly flights from Lisbon, and 1 to 2 flights from Paris or Madrid. TAP Air Portugal serves Lisbon several times daily and connects Europe to São Vicente from Paris, Luxembourg, Brussels, and Geneva via Portugal.

To North America, South African Airways notably connects Sal to New York and Atlanta. From West Africa, TACV operates flights between Praia and Dakar (Senegal) three to four times weekly. Senegal Airlines runs 2 flights per week to and from Dakar, with connections to most major West African cities.

You can travel to Cape Verde year-round.

There is a dry season from November to July, and a rainy season from August to October. The average annual temperature hovers around 25°C, with modest variations (a maximum temperature range of about 10°C). Higher elevations experience greater temperature and rainfall variations than lower-lying areas.
